From the Windows desktop:
- click the Search icon and type CMD [ENTER]
- right click on 'Command Prompt' and select 'Run as Administrator'
- click Yes to confirm
- type: 'chkntfs /x c: d:' [ENTER] (no quotes)
- close the Command Prompt window
- Reboot the system
