WARNING: Save all work first as this process will require a restart!
In the Search bar,

  • Type EWFACT (do not hit <ENTER>)
  • Right click over the EWFACT program that appears in the program listing and click Run as Administrator.
  • Reboot the system.

Add the following lines to your Cisco Meraki or HP PoE Switch configuration so that it properly works with Thinlabs Power over Ethernet (PoE) Computers (including, but not limited to,TL2530P, TL2640P, TL7600P, TL8510P, TL8610P models)..

  • Disable LLDP Snooping
  • Ensure the port is set to deliver 30W or higher

No special configuration is required for Phihong, Microsemi and Blackbox POE switches.

Windows 7:

  • Right-click on the Speaker icon on the taskbar and select Playback Devices
  • Right-click on each of the playback devices and select Test
  • If sound output, right-click on the device, select as Default

Windows 10:

  • Right-click over the Start icon and select Control Panel
  • Select Sound
  • Select Speakers
  • Click the Advanced tab
  • Select Test

  • Automatic Windows Updates is set to Disabled by default from the factory.
  • Disable EWF prior to applying manual Windows updates.
    If the system is turned on with EWF Enabled, it could cause a reboot loop on the system.
  • If a reboot CHKDSK loop is experienced, press a key to escape CHKDSK. 
    When the Windows Desktop appears, Disable EWF.
  • Re-enable EWF once all updates are completed.

For KREIOS (TL10 model) quadcore thin client box modules, connect the first monitor to the VGA port and the second monitor to either the HDMI or DVI-D port.

For TALOS (TL30), ORION (TL60) and ADEN (TL50) thin client box modules, connect the first monitor to the VGA port and the second monitor to the DVI-D port.

For all-in-one integrated thin client computers with Quadcore-based processors (TL23, TL24, TL25, TL26, TL85, TL86 models), connect the second monitor to either the VGA or HDMI port.

For all-in-one integrated thin client computers with Dualcore-based processors (TL21, TL22, TL74, TL83, TL84 models), connect the second monitor to the VGA port.

For all-in-one integrated thin client computers with ATOM-based processors (TL71, TL72, TL91, TL92 models), an additional VGA port will need to be installed to your system. Connect the second monitor to the VGA port.

The Active Directory periodically changes computer account passwords on workstations which are saved in the registry on WES7 devices.

The setting 'Domain Member: Disable Machine Account Password Changes' is set to Disabled by default.

Enable this property to prevent the system from automatically changing passwords.

  • Press the Start button and type 'Edit Group Policy' in the Search bar -
    select 'Edit Group Policy' from the results that appear.
  • Select:
    • Local Computer Policy
    • Windows Settings
    • Security Settings
    • Local Policies
    • Security Options
  • From the right-hand column, select 'Domain Member: Disable Machine Account Password Changes'.
  • Update the setting to 'Enabled' and press 'Apply'.
  • Select 'File --> Exit' to close the Local Group Policy Editor.

Applies to: TL22, TL24, TLI84, TL86 models

First, reboot your system to see if power is restored to the Touch Screen.

Check the Tablet PC Input Service to see if stopped on your system.

  • Press the Start button, select Control Panel
  • Select Services
  • Scroll down to Tablet PC Input Service, right click your mouse and select Properties
  • On the General Tab:
    • Be sure that Start Type is set to Automatic
    • If the service is stopped, press Start to start the service
      (the touch screen may not yet be operational at this point)
  • On the Recovery Tab:
    • For the First Failure, Second Failure and Subsequent Failures options, select Restart the Service
  • For systems running Embedded software,
    commit changes through EWF.
  • Reboot the system. The touch screen should be working on reboot.

Verify the boot option settings are correct in the BIOS (TL23, TL24, TL85, TL86 models).

  • Press DEL to enter BIOS.
  • At the Save & Exit menu,
    select Load Optimized Defaults
  • At the Boot menu,
    under Boot Option #1,
    select Windows Boot Manager (P1: [device name])
  • Press F4 and select Yes to Save & Exit Setup.
